Pepsi, Coke Alter Caramel Coloring To Escape Cancer Warning

Law360, Los Angeles (March 8, 2012, 8:20 PM EST) -- PepsiCo Inc. and The Coca-Cola Co. reportedly said Thursday that they were modifying the way they manufactured caramel coloring used in their beverages to conform with a California law regulating the amount of carcinogens allowed in products.

The companies said changes to their manufacturing process had already been made for drinks sold in the state and would eventually be expanded nationally, according to an Associated Press report.
