Ex-Ohio County Official Convicted Over Kickback Scheme

Law360, New York (March 9, 2012, 8:11 PM EST) -- An Ohio federal jury on Friday convicted former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora on charges that he helped secure building grants and government contracts for construction companies in exchange for bribes including cash, expensive dining and a trip to Las Vegas.

After a five-week trial, the jury convicted Dimora of 33 counts including mail fraud, conspiracy and bribery over programs receiving federal funds after his alleged 10-year run of securing jobs and contracts for companies including construction firms and a nonprofit rehabilitation center for released prisoners,...
