AT&T Accuses Telemarketers Of Making 20M Illegal Calls

Law360, New York (March 13, 2012, 5:27 PM EDT) -- AT&T Mobility LLC launched legal action in Georgia federal court on Friday to combat telemarketers it accuses of illegally using bogus phone numbers to bombard customers with more than 20 million commercial calls.

The defendants are known only by phone numbers that AT&T alleges are “spoofed” to deceive caller ID systems when contacting consumers with offers to lower credit card interest rates.
