US, EU Challenge China's Rare Earth Restrictions At WTO

Law360, New York (March 13, 2012, 12:28 PM EDT) -- The U.S., the EU and Japan complained to the World Trade Organization on Tuesday that China has imposed unfair export restraints on rare earth elements, while China vowed to defend its policies.

The complaint alleges that China has imposed export duties and quotas on the elements, used in high-tech devices, wind turbines and other products, artificially increasing prices outside of that country while lowering prices within.
