Evergreen Solar Says Buyer To Spend $8.5M For Mass. Plant

Law360, Wilmington (March 13, 2012, 6:55 PM EDT) -- Evergreen Solar Inc. asked a Delaware bankruptcy court on Monday to approve the sale of its partially state-funded plant in Devens, Mass. to Hackman Capital for $8.5 million — the last major asset needed to complete the defunct solar panel maker’s liquidation.

The Devens plant cost $450 million to build, but around 5 percent of the cost was offset by job grants from the state, tax breaks and a $1 annual lease with the property owner, the Massachusetts Development Finance Agency, according to court documents....
