NYC Targets Water Quality With $2.4B Green Project Package

Law360, New York (March 13, 2012, 5:43 PM EDT) -- New York City will invest an estimated $2.4 billion in environmentally friendly green infrastructure projects as part of an agreement with the state to ease the burden on its aging sewer system and improve its compliance with state wastewater regulations, the city said Tuesday.

The consent order will resolve several sewer overflow violations the state has issued the city dating back to 1992, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.
