HHS Loosens Oversight Of Medicare Equipment Suppliers

Law360, New York (March 14, 2012, 4:27 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday issued a scaled-back version of a measure increasing oversight and regulation of medical equipment suppliers who contract with Medicare, after determining the original rule was too broad.

The agency loosened standards implemented in August 2010 that put new restrictions on the solicitation of Medicare beneficiaries by medical equipment suppliers and established new licensing, contracting and zoning requirements for such companies.
