Senate OKs $109B Transportation Bill With GOP Support

Law360, New York (March 14, 2012, 4:30 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate passed a $109 billion surface transportation bill on Wednesday, with measures to finance new infrastructure projects and reduce traffic emissions as well as a handful of amendments, including one that would send oil spill fines against BP PLC to Gulf Coast states.

After weeks of debate, the Senate voted 74-22 in favor of the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act, S. 1813. Twenty-two Republicans joined the chamber’s Democrats in approving the legislation.
