Roche Loses Bid To Block Generic Boniva

Law360, New York (March 14, 2012, 5:47 PM EDT) -- Pharmaceutical giant Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. lost a bid Wednesday to block Apotex Inc., Mylan Inc. and other generic-drug makers from releasing a version of the osteoporosis drug Boniva after a judge ruled Roche would have difficulty withstanding challenges to two of the drug's patents.

Judge Stanley R. Chesler of the New Jersey federal court blocked Roche's bid for a preliminary injunction, finding the drug manufacturer's suit did not show a likelihood of success on the merits on the validity of U.S. Patent Numbers 7,718,634 and 7,410,957....
