IBM Settles Compuware's Copyright Suit For $400M

Law360, New York (March 22, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- IBM has agreed to pay $400 million under a licensing deal to settle rival Compuware’s copyright and trade-secrets lawsuit over software used by Big Blue’s mainframes.

Under the four-year agreement, IBM will pay the independent software vendor $140 million to license its software and $260 million to purchase its services. The settlement comes as the parties enter the sixth week in a federal court trial.
