NRC To Inspect Tube Failures At Calif. Nuclear Plant

Law360, Washington (March 15, 2012, 5:33 PM EDT) -- The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will send additional inspectors to a Southern California nuclear generating station after three tubes in one of the station's steam generators failed pressure tests, the NRC said Thursday.

Southern California Edison Co. is testing 129 of its 19,454 steam generator tubes in Unit 3 of its San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, after it discovered a leak in one of the tubes that carry radioactive water Jan. 31.
