Ala. Gambling Workers Win Class Cert. In Mass Layoff

Law360, New York (March 15, 2012, 8:27 PM EDT) -- An Alabama federal judge on Thursday granted a slew of laid-off Macon County Greyhound Park Inc. employees class certification in their action against the entertainment complex operator claiming they were terminated without sufficient notice.

U.S. District Judge Mark E. Fuller said in his order that the 2,000-plus employees who lost their jobs on one of three dates in 2010 exhibited adequate numerosity, commonality and typicality requirements and thus granted them certification in their Worker Adjustment and Retaining Act action.
