False Cancer Claims Lead To Chevron Victory

Law360, New York (August 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has dismissed three Ecuadorians from a personal injury lawsuit against Chevron Corp. after they admitted to fabricating claims of cancer.

Judge William Alsup of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Friday threw out the complaints of Gloria Chamba, who said her son had leukemia; Luisa Gonzales, who said she had breast cancer; and Nixon Rodriguez Crespo, who filed a “loss of consortium” claim related to the allegations of Gonzales, his wife.
