Sens. Continue Fight To Lower Contractor Salary Cap

Law360, New York (March 16, 2012, 7:02 PM EDT) -- Sens. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said Friday they had introduced a bill to cap the amount government contractors can be reimbursed for their salaries at the president's salary, currently $400,000.

The lawmakers officially introduced S. 2198, the Commonsense Contractor Compensation Act of 2012, on Thursday.

The current cap, based on a federal executive compensation benchmark, is set at $693,951 for contractors' top five employees. Other contractor employees can receive taxpayer-funded reimbursements above that amount.
