Baxter Scores $24M Judgment In Fresenius Patent Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (March 16, 2012, 7:01 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Friday ordered Fresenius Medical Care Holdings and Fresenius USA Inc. to pay more than $23.5 million in damages and royalties to rival Baxter International Inc. for infringing a patent for touch-screen dialysis machine interfaces.

Friday’s final judgment marks the latest chapter in nearly nine years of heated litigation between the medical device makers, more than four years after a federal jury found Fresenius should pay about $14 million for infringing Baxter’s touch-screen patent.
