1st Circ. Tosses Vicor's $13M Insurance Win In Ericsson Row

Law360, New York (March 16, 2012, 7:47 PM EDT) -- The First Circuit on Friday overturned a $13 million judgment for Vicor Corp. against three insurers after a settlement payout to Ericsson Wireless Communications Inc. for allegedly defective parts, saying a lower court erred by finding loss-of-use insurance could cover emergency repairs.

Ericsson had sued Vicor in California court in 2004, saying Vicor power converters it incorporated in wireless base stations failed and caused outages in Cricket Communications and China Unicom cellphone networks. They settled for $50 million in 2007, and Vicor insurers Vigilant Insurance Co....
