Obama Admin Floats Proposals On Contraception Rules

Law360, New York (March 16, 2012, 7:57 PM EDT) -- The Obama administration on Friday outlined proposals to implement provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that require employers to cover preventive services including contraception without compelling nonprofit religious groups objecting to such services to cover them.

Self-insured religious employers unwilling to cover the services could potentially use third-party administrators to provide contraceptive coverage using funding sources, such as drug rebates, that are not from the employer’s revenue, administration officials said Friday.
