Former Nicor Officials Face SEC Fraud Charges

Law360, New York (August 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed civil fraud charges in federal court on Thursday against three former top officials of the natural gas distributor Nicor, Inc, alleging that the executives were involved in a variety of plots to pump up earnings.

In its complaint, the SEC alleged that former chief executive and chairman Thomas Fisher, former chief financial officer Kathleen Halloran and former company treasurer George Behrens used improper accounting schemes and transactions to meet earnings targets.
