Hitachi Buys Out Fujitsu From Plasma Display JV, Acquires Basic Plasma Patents

Law360, New York (March 26, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a deal that will give Hitachi Ltd. control over a portfolio of basic plasma display patents, the Japanese electronics maker has agreed to buy out Fujitsu Ltd.’s share of their plasma display joint venture and buy the related patents owned by Fujitsu.

The joint venture, Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display Ltd, is the largest plasma display maker in the world, according to researcher DisplaySearch.

The two companies penned the deal last month and agreed to inject equity into FHP as part of the agreement, they said....
