Lithuania Sues EU Regulator Over Emissions Policy

Law360, New York (August 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Angered by regulator's plan to cut emissions allowances for member states, the government of Lithuania has filed a lawsuit against the European Commission.

A government spokesperson said on Thursday that Lithuania would file the suit in the European Court of Justice. Although the government has not yet voted on the suit, it has been recommended by the country's Prime Minister. The government said that a formal decision would likely be adopted in the next few weeks.
