Insurers Stuck In Asbestos Duty-To-Defend Suit

Law360, New York (March 21, 2012, 6:04 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge said Wednesday that insurers for General Refractories Co. could not exit the company's suit seeking coverage for underlying asbestos litigation, saying a meaningful dispute existed over the language of exclusions in the insurance policies.

U.S. District Judge Edmund V. Ludwig said the 11 insurers were not entitled to summary judgment because it was not clear whether exclusions in policies GRC bought exempted the insurers from defending the company from asbestos personal injury claims.
