Madoff Trustee Renews Fight Against UniCredit In $59B Suit

Law360, New York (March 22, 2012, 7:12 PM EDT) -- Bernard L. Madoff's bankruptcy trustee on Wednesday refused to admit defeat and appealed a New York federal court's dismissal of racketeering claims against UniCredit SpA and an affiliate for allegedly helping an Austrian banker funnel money to Madoff's Ponzi scheme.

U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff ruled Feb. 21 that Irving H. Picard's allegations against UniCredit and affiliate UniCredit Bank Austria AG helped Austrian banker Sonja Kohn weren't strong enough to sustain claims under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
