Contractors Urge Court to Lift Political Donation Ban

Law360, Washington (March 22, 2012, 7:44 PM EDT) -- Three government contractors asked a Washington federal court Thursday to lift a law banning them from making political contributions while their case against the Federal Election Commission moves forward, saying the rule infringes on their First and Fifth Amendment rights.

The Federal Election Campaign Act of 1972 makes it a felony for an individual with a government contract to give money to any candidate, political committee or political party in connection with an election for federal office.
