Kroger Drops 'Pink Slime' Despite USDA Safety Assurances

Law360, New York (March 22, 2012, 8:28 PM EDT) -- The Kroger Co. and two other grocery chains said Thursday they had stopped buying beef with ammonia-treated trimmings even though federal regulators maintain the additive is safe, marking the latest companies to drop so-called pink slime amid consumer pressure.
