OFT Probes BSkyB Deal

Law360 (August 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- British broadcasting company BskyB's acquisition of electronics firm Amstrad has caught the attention of regulators, who said they will probe the deal to determine whether it lessened competition in the television technology market.

The U.K. Office of Fair Trading said on Friday that it will look into the £125 million merger, which was completed earlier this month.

Regulators have expressed concern that the merger will limit competition in the market for television electronics, since before the deal a already supplied 30% of BskyB's set-top boxes....
