Argentina Loses, Sudan Gains Duty-Free Import Status

Law360, New York (March 26, 2012, 7:00 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama revoked Argentina’s duty-free trade benefits with the U.S. on Monday, while adding South Sudan to a list of developing nations eligible for breaks on import tariffs.

In a presidential proclamation, President Obama suspended Argentina as a beneficiary of the Generalized System of Preferences program, which permits selected developing nations to import products into the U.S. duty free.
