11th Circ. Maintains Block On Aetna Antitrust Claims

Law360, New York (March 26, 2012, 5:52 PM EDT) -- A group of medical providers failed to take the necessary steps to appeal the dismissal of antitrust and racketeering claims against Aetna Inc. over rates used to pay health care benefits claims, the Eleventh Circuit said Monday.

The decision kept in place a Florida federal court's finding that the plaintiffs — including the American Medical Association, several state medical societies and individual physicians — had failed to test an injunction deeming the claims barred by an Aetna settlement in a related multidistrict litigation.
