GAO Test Reveals Flood Of Counterfeit Parts From Chinese Cos.

Law360, New York (March 26, 2012, 9:13 PM EDT) -- A U.S. Government Accountability Office report released Monday found that all the military-grade electronic parts the agency had secretly purchased from Chinese vendors were suspected counterfeits or fake, renewing two U.S. senators' calls for action to crack down on the practice.

The GAO created a fake company, complete with a fake owner, website and contractor registration listing, to buy military-grade electronic parts off the Internet. The agency received responses to its inquiries from 396 vendors, 84 percent of which were from China.
