The Evolution Of Medicare ACOs

Law360, New York (March 29, 2012, 1:21 PM EDT) -- The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) created pathways for providers to become more accountable for their patients’ health care. One of these pathways, the Medicare Shared Savings Program, was intended to encourage the development of accountable care organizations (ACOs).

PPACA also created the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (the Innovation Center) to test and expand innovative payment and delivery models such as ACOs.
