Judge OKs Camin's $3.9M FLSA Deal But Nixes Liability Shield

Law360, New York (March 27, 2012, 2:55 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey federal judge on Monday eliminated confidentiality requirements and a broad release waiver before approving a deal in which Camin Cargo Control Inc. will pay $3.9 million to resolve allegations the inspection services provider improperly compensated petroleum inspectors for overtime. 

U.S. District Judge Jose L. Linares balked at approving the settlement’s confidentiality agreement and a proposed release of employees’ Fair Labor Standards Act claims, saying the provisions were both too broad.
