Group Objects To Marcal Settlement With EPA

Law360 (August 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings of Marcal Paper Mills Inc., a coalition of companies has filed an objection to a recent $3 million proposed settlement agreement between Marcal and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over pollution claims involving New Jersey's Lower Passaic River.

The objection, filed on Friday by the Lower Passaic River Study Area Cooperating Parties Group, asks the court not to approve the proposed settlement, because the terms of the settlement are unclear and unfair.
