GAO Urges Shared Assets, Updates To Aid Export Control

Law360, New York (March 28, 2012, 6:08 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office on Tuesday urged federal agencies to pool their resources, gather information on export trends and improve licensing programs to better ensure that exports of weapons and defense equipment were not illegally diverted to restricted countries. 

In a report released Tuesday, the GAO offered several recommendations as President Barack Obama's Export Control Reform Initiative moves forward in its goal to streamline the enforcement of export control laws and the sharing of intelligence information among various government agencies.
