Swiss Bank Wants Madoff Suit Out Of Bankruptcy Court

Law360, New York (March 28, 2012, 1:37 PM EDT) -- A Swiss bank sought Tuesday to remove from bankruptcy court a suit brought by the liquidating trustee for Bernard Madoff’s investment firm seeking $37.3 million in allegedly fraudulent transfers from the estate, saying the suit invokes substantial questions of nonbankruptcy law.

Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC liquidation trustee Irving H. Picard filed the lawsuit in December seeking to recover the alleged subsequent transfer from Bank Julius Baer & Co. Ltd., saying it was illegally transferred from BLMIS through Madoff feeder fund Fairfield Sentry Ltd....
