Beatles Stop Wheelchair Co.'s Mark In EU Court

Law360, New York (March 29, 2012, 12:30 PM EDT) -- The Beatles' company Apple Corps Ltd. has successfully blocked a Dutch wheelchair maker's attempt to register a trademark for its Beatle line of electric wheelchairs, a European court said Thursday.

You-Q BV, formerly Handicare Holding BV, applied in January 2004 to register the “Beatle” mark with the European Union's Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market, but Apple Corps intervened in May 2005 and opposed the mark, saying it infringed a number of the Beatles' trademarks.
