Wal-Mart Pays $4M To Settle California Wage Suit

Law360, New York (August 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. agreed Tuesday to pay over $4 million in unpaid wages, waiting-time penalties and civil penalties to 50,000 California employees and to the state of California after the mega-retailer voluntarily notified state authorities of a string of payment errors.

The payment will put to rest a lawsuit filed in California state court by California Labor Commissioner Angela Bradstreet accusing Wal-Mart of not adequately paying many of its California employees from Feb. 1, 2002 through Jan. 19, 2007.
