High Court Seeks DOJ's Take On Texas-Okla. Water Fight

Law360, New York (April 2, 2012, 1:24 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court asked the federal government Monday to weigh in on a Texas water district's claims that Oklahoma violated a multistate compact by passing laws to hinder water exports, a case that could affect interstate water arrangements across the U.S.

The Tarrant Regional Water District, which serves nearly 2 million people in north-central Texas, sought the high court review after the Tenth Circuit sided with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board and Oklahoma Water Conservation Storage Commission in September.
