More Fake Foreign Avastin Found, FDA Warns

Law360, New York (April 3, 2012, 8:29 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday warned health care providers who had purchased medicines from foreign suppliers that the agency had uncovered additional supplies of counterfeit products posing as blockbuster cancer drug Avastin.

The newest batch of fake drugs came packaged as Roche Holding AG’s Altuzan brand, which is the drug name for Avastin in Turkey, according to a statement released by the FDA on Tuesday.
