European Commission Urges Delay Of ACTA Vote

Law360, New York (April 4, 2012, 8:01 PM EDT) -- Any decision on adoption of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement should wait until after a court ruling on the pact's legality, the European Commission said Wednesday, urging the European Parliament to put off a vote set for June.

The EC referred the treaty to the European Court of Justice in late February to clarify its legality, but the European Parliament voted March 27 not to make its own referral, with some members saying the controversial treaty should be rejected outright.
