Blue Cross Says Neb. Health Contract Award Was Tainted

Law360, New York (April 5, 2012, 5:43 PM EDT) -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska accused the state Wednesday of illegally awarding its employee health contract to a competitor because of improper lobbying from a Republican Party bigwig and because of a flawed bid-evaluation system.

Seeking to block Nebraska's award of the contract to United HealthCare Services Inc., Blue Cross lodged a suit asking a Nebraska state court to force the state to “convene a full, fair and impartial hearing” in light of alleged undue influence and conflict of interest it says was present...
