FTC Wins Bid To Temporarily Block Hospital Merger

Law360, New York (April 5, 2012, 6:40 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal judge on Thursday granted the Federal Trade Commission’s move for a preliminary injunction blocking the proposed merger of two Illinois hospitals, finding the FTC made its case about the potential for high levels of market concentration.

U.S. District Judge Frederick J. Kapala ordered OSF Healthcare System and Rockford Health System not to proceed with their proposed merger until the the completion of all legal proceedings by the FTC challenging the acquisition, including all appeals, according to the order.
