Calif. Groups Ask FERC To Nix Wave Energy Plant Bid

Law360, New York (April 6, 2012, 8:35 PM EDT) -- A California municipality and fishing industry coalition asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Thursday to deny a permit request for a wave energy power plant from GreenWave Energy Solutions LLC, arguing the company lacks the resources and competence to execute the project.

Lodging separate motions with FERC to intervene in GreenWave's preliminary permit application, the city of Fort Bragg and Fishermen Interested in Safe Hydrokinetics both expressed serious doubts about the project, which would create a 100-megawatt, commercial-scale wave energy plant less than 10 miles...
