Chevron Suit Over Nigerian Violence Gets Green Light

Law360, New York (August 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has ruled that a suit alleging that Chevron Corp. conspired with the Nigerian military to gun down demonstrators protesting its presence in Nigeria can proceed.

Judge Susan Illston of the U.S. District Court for the District of Northern California said in rulings issued Tuesday that the plaintiffs had enough evidence accusing the company of using the government security forces as its own agents, among other allegations.
