US Fights Dimora Release Over Alleged Gambling, Drinking

Law360, New York (April 11, 2012, 1:07 PM EDT) -- Prosecutors told an Ohio federal judge on Tuesday that convicted former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora had not earned enough trust to be released from custody before his sentencing on kickback charges, citing his alleged gambling and drinking.

Dimora was convicted March 9 on claims he helped secure building grants and government contracts for construction companies in exchange for bribes. Michael Gabor, a former Cuyahoga County auditor’s employee, was also convicted for enabling the scheme.
