Scottsdale Recoils At Coverage For Defective Wrinkle Meds

Law360, New York (April 11, 2012, 3:35 PM EDT) -- Scottsdale Insurance Co. fired off a suit in California federal court Tuesday claiming it did not owe coverage to Coapt Systems Inc. in scores of lawsuits by participants in a botched clinical study of the company’s defective Botox-like medication.

Coapt has been slapped with 58 suits in California state court over a 2008 paid clinical study of the company’s dermal filler, a kind of gel that can be injected into skin to remove wrinkles, according to Scottsdale. The suits allege Coapt failed to tell patients in...
