Law360, New York (April 11, 2012, 8:05 PM EDT) -- Nine branches of Planned Parenthood sued Texas on Wednesday, claiming that a law barring the state Women's Health Program from funding clinics affiliated with abortion providers — a law that caused the federal government to revoke Medicaid funding for the program — is unconstitutional.
In the suit, Planned Parenthood asked for an injunction blocking the Texas Health and Human Services Commission from cutting off its funding starting April 30. Planed Parenthood clinics received $13 million from the program in 2010, the lawsuit said.
