Texas IP Firm Wins Coverage Fight Over Referral Suit

Law360, New York (April 12, 2012, 4:09 PM EDT) -- Greenwich Insurance Co. had a duty to defend intellectual property firm Shore Chan Bragalone Depumpo LLP in a $600,000 suit brought by another law firm over a client referral agreement, a Texas federal judge ruled Wednesday.

Shore Chan, which has a professional liability policy from Greenwich, was sued by Thrasher Associates LLC in 2009 for allegedly breaking an agreement to share the proceeds from clients referred by the firm.
