Universal Health Snags 1% Of $3B Medicare Settlement

Law360, New York (April 13, 2012, 6:57 PM EDT) -- Universal Health Services Inc., a company that owns 23 acute care hospitals and about 200 behavioral health facilities, said Thursday that its share of a reported $3 billion industrywide settlement with the federal Medicare agency is worth about $35 million.

The settlement, which was signed April 5, was first reported yesterday, when HCA Holdings Inc., the nation’s largest for-profit hospital operator, said it would receive $271 million under the deal, and Tenet Healthcare Corp., the country’s third-largest hospital chain, announced it would get $84 million....
