Enviros Ask DC Circ. To Block Ga. Nuke Plant Expansion

Law360, New York (April 16, 2012, 5:38 PM EDT) -- With the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission denying a petition to stay construction of two new Southern Co. reactors at a Georgia nuclear power plant, a coalition of environmental groups announced Monday that they would lodge the same request in the D.C. Circuit.

The nine organizations have already filed suit against the NRC. The complaint argues that the agency illegally authorized the $14 billion project without considering lessons from last year's Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan, and demands that the NRC prepare a new environmental impact statement...
