Miami AIDS Clinics Charged With Defrauding Medicaid

Law360, New York (August 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The owner of a Miami-based Medicare billing company responsible for looking over the bills of 75 HIV infusion therapy clinics was charged on Monday with submitting $170 million worth of fraudulent Medicare bills.

The Health and Human Services Department, which oversees Medicare, and the Department of Justice announced charges against Rita Campos Ramirex and her billing company, R&I Medical Billing Inc. on Monday.
