Electrolux Can’t Douse State Farm’s $12M Dryer Fire Suit

Law360, New York (April 17, 2012, 3:05 PM EDT) -- Electrolux Home Products Inc. must face allegations that home fires from an alleged defect in its clothes dryers forced State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. to pay out $12.2 million in insurance claims, an Illinois federal judge ruled Monday.

U.S. District Judge Suzanne B. Conlon denied the appliance manufacturer’s motion to dismiss State Farm's suit seeking to recoup claims the insurer paid to 210 policyholders whose homes were allegedly damaged in fires caused by dryer lint that ignited.
